Eco Engineering Helps Winston Industries
Improve Its Lighting, Save Money, and the Environment
January 19, 2000 -- LOUISVILLE, KY Eco Engineering recently completed the installation of new energy efficient lighting technology at Winston Industries's offices at 2345 Carton Drive in Louisville. Winston Industries is a worldwide manufacturer of high tech foodservice equipment. The 30-year old company specializes in providing the highest quality holding cabinets, ovens, cook & holds, merchandisers, fryers and more.
David Shelton, Winston Industries' CEO, is very ecologically minded. He says,
"Eco was selected based on their ability to help make Winston more
environmentally sound and energy efficient, as well as improve lighting
quality for the employees and help save on operational costs."
"The new lighting system Eco installed allowed us to take advantage of
the economy the project offered and to improve lighting at the facility. For
example, one of our experienced punch and shear operators told me that he no
longer has to walk out of his area to inspect close work. The brighter bulbs
installed by Eco have given him needed illumination right where he works,
just from the change from old to new lighting. This kind of improvement saves
us time and work flow stoppage, not to mention money on our energy costs,"
says John C. Heigl, Vice President of Administration for Winston Industries.
Eco Engineering President, Tom Kirkpatrick says, "Winston Industries's
new lighting system will not only reduce the lighting portion of the
company's energy bills by 53% and decrease the company's lighting maintenance
costs, but it also required no capital dollars on the company's part. The
lighting system Eco Engineering installed for Winston Industries will also
have a substantial environmental impact. It will reduce concerns such as
ballasts containing PCB and DEHP and high mercury lamps. The new system has
the equivalent effect of planting 70 acres of trees annually, removing 34
cars from the road annually, and saving 21,930 gallons of gasoline each year.
The new energy efficient lighting will also prevent the emission of 434,213
pounds of carbon dioxide, 5,535 pounds of sulfur dioxide, and 1,863 pounds of
nitrogen oxides annually."
Eco Engineering's goal is to help its customers realize greater energy savings while playing a part in preserving the environment for generations to come. Eco Engineering offers comprehensive energy consumption analysis, audits, and consulting services that range from providing utility bill analysis to overall building infrastructure analysis in addition to providing energy efficient lighting and maintenance. Eco provides commercial clients with the entire spectrum of services to achieve maximum energy savings and also help protect the environment. Eco Engineering is now the largest independent Energy Services Company (ESCO) in the Ohio-Indiana-Kentucky tri-state region, with over 100 successful energy savings projects resulting in an annual savings of $4-$5 million for Eco's customers.
