Eco Engineering Helps Vivid Impact Improve Its Lighting, Save Money, and the Environment

January 19, 2000 -- LOUISVILLE, KY – Eco Engineering recently completed the installation of new energy efficient lighting technology at Vivid Impact Corporation's offices on Bunsen Way in Louisville. Vivid Impact is a full service graphics communications manufacturer. Vivid's goal when hiring Eco Engineering to install energy efficient lighting was to improve lighting quality for its employees while saving money and the environment at the same time.

"We chose to work with Eco Engineering because the company puts its money where its mouth is, so to speak. Eco installed sample fixtures in a few areas of our facility so we could meter the savings for ourselves before making a commitment to change the lighting in the entire building. We immediately saw a difference in the sample area. The lighting was brighter and our employees were very pleased. We could also see the savings Eco told us we could achieve were truly accurate," says Vivid Impact's president, Gregory A. Buchheit.

Eco Engineering President, Tom Kirkpatrick says, "Vivid Impact's new lighting system will reduce the lighting portion of the company's energy bills by 50% saving the company more than $77,000 over five years, and it will also decrease the company's lighting maintenance costs. The lighting system Eco Engineering installed for Vivid Impact will also have a substantial environmental impact. It will reduce concerns such as ballasts containing PCB and DEHP and high mercury lamps. The new system has the equivalent effect of planting 67 acres of trees annually, removing 33 cars from the road annually, and saving 1,744 gallons of gasoline each month. The new energy efficient lighting will also prevent the emission of 34,524 pounds of carbon dioxide, 440 pounds of sulfur dioxide, and 148 pounds of nitrogen oxides monthly."

Eco Engineering's goal is to help its customers realize greater energy savings while playing a part in preserving the environment for generations to come. Eco Engineering offers comprehensive energy consumption analysis, audits, and consulting services that range from providing utility bill analysis to overall building infrastructure analysis in addition to providing energy efficient lighting and maintenance. Eco provides commercial clients with the entire spectrum of services to achieve maximum energy savings and also help protect the environment. Eco Engineering is now the largest independent Energy Services Company (ESCO) in the Ohio-Indiana-Kentucky tri-state region, with over 100 successful energy savings projects resulting in an annual savings of $4-$5 million for Eco's customers. Eco Engineering is an Ally in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) ENERGY STAR Buildings Partnership.
